Ustawi Impact is a national non-governmental organization registered under the NGO Act No. 24 of 2002. The organization operates nationally in Tanzania, with its head office located at Kisima Cha Chumvi Street, near Line Police, Bitoto Ward, Sengerema District, Mwanza Region (P.O. Box 281).
The organization began in 2023 as Knowledge In Books, primarily focused on strengthening community libraries and promoting a culture of reading among children and youth. As community needs evolved and programs expanded to include economic empowerment and environmental sustainability, the organization officially transformed in 2025 into Ustawi Impact to reflect its broader mandate and long-term development vision.
Ustawi Impact was established in response to persistent challenges affecting children, youth, and communities in Tanzania — including limited access to quality education, restricted economic opportunities, and environmental degradation such as deforestation, climate change, and poor waste management. Recognizing that these issues are interconnected, the organization implements integrated solutions that promote sustainable and inclusive development.

From Knowledge In Books to Ustawi Impact
Founded as Knowledge In Books
The journey began with a focus on strengthening community libraries and promoting a culture of reading among children and youth in Sengerema District, Mwanza Region.
Library Renovation & Grand Opening
Community volunteers renovated a learning space. Government officials validated the library's community impact. The Digital Learning Hub was launched, bridging the digital divide with computers and interactive programs.
Rebranded to Ustawi Impact
As programs expanded to include economic empowerment and environmental sustainability, the organization officially transformed into Ustawi Impact to reflect its broader mandate and long-term development vision.
