Biography

About Michael

Michael Leo is the Program Director at Ustawi Impact, where he is responsible for designing, launching, and continuously improving every program the organization runs across Sengerema and Mwanza Region. From classroom literacy initiatives to vocational pathways for out-of-school youth, Michael ensures each program delivers measurable, lasting change for the communities it serves.

With a strong background in education and community development, Michael brings rigor and heart to program design. He balances ambitious goals with realistic delivery — building monitoring systems, training local facilitators, and refining curricula based on what actually works in Tanzanian classrooms and youth groups.

Michael is especially passionate about youth empowerment: helping teenagers and young adults in rural Mwanza build the literacy, vocational, and digital skills that open real economic doors. He spends as much time in schools and villages as he does in the program office, because he believes good programs are built on the ground, not at a desk.
