Biography

About Anthony

Anthony Medsen is the visionary founder and Executive Director of Ustawi Impact, a registered Tanzanian non-governmental organization headquartered in Sengerema District, Mwanza Region. Under his leadership, Ustawi Impact operates under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 and serves children, youth, and rural communities through three integrated pillars: quality education, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Born and raised in the communities he now serves, Anthony has spent more than a decade working at the grassroots level — from organizing literacy campaigns and library projects to designing youth empowerment programs that meet real, on-the-ground needs. His leadership style is rooted in listening: every program at Ustawi Impact starts with conversations in villages, schools, and homes before a single shilling is spent.

Anthony is widely recognized in the region as a champion of education-led development. He believes that lasting change in Tanzania does not arrive as charity — it arrives when local people are equipped with knowledge, skills, and the confidence to lead their own transformation. That conviction shapes every partnership Ustawi Impact enters and every program it launches.

Beyond Ustawi Impact, Anthony collaborates with district education officers, local government leaders, and partner NGOs to amplify community-level impact and to bring evidence-based practices into rural Tanzanian classrooms.
